Tips on Selecting Flowers
for your Wedding Day
for your Wedding Day
When it comes to selecting flowers for your wedding day it is important to get the advice of a professional floral designer, in particular a wedding specialist. Not all florists offer this service so make sure you do your research and ask the right questions. Most of all, its important you feel comfortable with your designer.
BUDGET
One of the biggest factors influencing your choice will most likely be your budget.
The price of your flowers will be affected by type and quantity of flowers, style of bouquets and workmanship involved.
My first tip is to select flowers that are in season at the time of your wedding. This will ensure they both be readily available to avoid disappointment on the day and be of great quality.
SEASON & COLOUR
Season can also play a big part in colour selection. Pastel tones are most commonly associated with Spring; bright funky colours are best suited to Summer; the more muted and rustic tones are complimented by Autumn and Winter suits those warm creams and champagne tones best. Of course the colour and texture of your bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses are the main consideration in colour selection so it is always helpful to bring a swatch of fabric or a colour sample with you upon meeting with your floral designer.
BRIDAL GOWN
The shape and style of your wedding gown and your height are the main issues to consider when deciding on a style of bouquet. If you are a tall bride, a trailing or teardrop style will suit you well.
Round posies look great if you are slightly shorter, especially if you have a full skirt.
ACCENTS
For that special touch of style and elegance, why not add a few crystal accents to your flowers. If your budget allows, go for the genuine Swarovski crystals. There are many cheap imitations out there that can often cheapen the whole look of your bouquet. When you are spending so much on your flowers already, this is the last thing you want to do.
A small crystal butterfly wired into your bouquet or randomly placed small Swarovski crystals can look absolutely stunning and can make such a statement without over doing it.
SIMPLE IS STYLISH
Lastly, remember simple is stylish. Don't overdo the blooms. Your bouquet is simply there to compliment your style.
